Our Neighborhood

Rolling hills, gorgeous vistas, warm welcomes from neighbors, many who have lived in here since the neighborhood was founded in the 50's, are just some of the ways to describe Lincoya Hills today.

Our Story

On July 4, 2003, Colleen O’Connell, put flyers in 120 of her neighbors’ mailboxes. Colleen was a new resident and since the Lincoya Hills subdivision had no HOA or neigbhorhood watch, she hoped to make a connection with her new neighbors and learn more about her community.
Ten people responded to that outreach and they first met as a group on August 28, 2003 in a neighbor’s home.

Opportunities to come together as a neighborhood soon presented themselves. A meeting with then councilman J.B. Loring, was held on September 25, 2003 to discuss growing concerns about a development being proposed in the Heartland area behind Knobview Drive and Hunters Hill. Neighbors from all over Lincoya Hills met at Lakeshore Heartland to express their concerns and make a plan to fight the proposed development. The plan worked and no development was pursued.

Lincoya Hills Neighborhood Watch soon followed and five people became the first Block Captains for Lincoya Hills. In the Spring of 2004, the Watch placed Neighborhood Watch signs around the area.

In early 2005, the Lincoya Hills Neighborhood Association was officially formed. Officers were Colleen O’Connell, President; Frank Trew, Vice President; Wayne Dedman, Secretary; Clyde Ingram, Treasurer. Dues were $10 per household. Our website, lincoyahills.org, debuted in March of 2005 courtesy of Frank Trew.

In addition to our annual picnic, we meet on a quarterly basis to discuss areas of interest and to stay connected as a community. NextDoor Lincoya Hills offers us instant access to our neighbors to share safety concerns, lost and found pets and social events to name a few.

Membership dues are not mandatory but appreciated. These funds are used to pay for our annual picnic, mailings and quarterly meeting expenses.
